Delphi, the center of the world
Delphi is one of Greece’s most ancient cities. It was the site of the most important oracle of the ancient Greek world, the famous Delphic Oracle.
The modern town of Delphi, which has been inhabited since the Middle Ages, is located at an altitude of 580 meters on the southern slopes of Mount Parnassus and is very near the homonymous archaeological site. Due to the extraordinary natural beauty of the Delphic landscape and the cultural and educational interest it holds, Delphi was honored with a special award from the “European Commission Assessment of Tourist Destinations” (European Destinations of Excellence - EDEN V.)The town is also a “base” for many other nearby destinations, with which it is connected through an excellent highway system: Arachova (8 km), Itea (16 km), Amfissa (19 km) and Galaxidi (32 km)
